The project will go through a thorough review pursuant to federal and local law. Ultimately, the design team will present the project to six different boards or commissions. These include:
- Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC)
- Old Georgetown Board (OGB)
- US Commission of Fine Arts (CFA)
- DC Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB)
- DC Mayor’s Agent for Historic Preservation
- DC Zoning Commission’s Planned Unit Development (PUD) process
Each review body has regularly scheduled public hearings.
April 3rd, 2017: ANC 2E voted 7-1 to endorse the project’s concept design
May 18th, 2017: US Commission of Fine Arts voted 7-0 to approve the concept design
September 6th, 2017: ANC 2E voted 6-0 with one abstention to endorse the project’s updated concept design
September 20th, 2017: U.S. Commission of Fine Arts voted enthusiastically 7-0 to approve the revised design concept
October 30th, 2017: ANC voted 7-1 against landmarking West Heating Plant
November 2nd, 2017: Team presented to the DC Historic Preservation Review Board
April 26th, 2018: Team concluded its design presentation to the DC Historic Preservation Review Board
July 16, 2018: Mayor’s Agent for Historic Preservation Hearing
January 11, 2019: D.C. Mayor’s Agent for Historic Preservation approves project
